Why was an EA prepared?

MDA prepared an EA to determine if there will be significant effects on the environment at the two contingency locations (Naval Air Station North Island and Naval Station Everett) from the proposed maintenance. To assess the potential impacts, MDA analyzed the following issues and resources:

  • Air quality
  • Airspace
  • Biological resources
  • Hazardous materials and waste
  • Noise
  • Socioeconomics
  • Transportation
  • Visual and aesthetics
  • Water quality

The Draft EA was available for public review on this project website. Comments received during the 30-day comment period were reviewed and incorporated if appropriate. The Final EA documents the in-depth analysis of the above listed resources. This analysis indicated that there would be no significant impact on the environment from the proposed maintenance. Based on the results of the Final EA MDA prepared and finalized a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
